Sailing as a platform for developing key corporate skills
A successful sailor shares many of the same skills as a successful business. It is these parallels between the worlds of sailing and business which makes sailing such a fantastic platform for corporate off sites.

The crew on a boat needs to work in much the same way as a business team. The same skills are necessary for success; these include communication, shared goals and vision, teamwork and problem solving skills. In addition, a sailing crew needs strong leadership, a clear goal and a strategy for success.

Not only does sailing develop skills needed in the corporate world, it is also great fun. Teams are more motivated to learn new skills in a stimulating environment like the one provided by the experience of sailing. Such a unique experience is something that people will really value so sailing is ideal as a team reward.

What Aquasail offers
Aquasail calls our corporate sailing experience Sailience. This is an interactive and highly participative program, where employees get to experience the exhilaration of hands-on sailing, while learning team work, adaptability and focus. Sailience has a strong team building focus for employees and is a perfect platform to build relationships, to understand leadership styles, evaluate decision-making skills and develop team spirit.

The Team
Shakeel Kudrolli, Aquasail’s founder and managing director is a corporate lawyer by profession and a passionate and accomplished sailor.

Shakeel won India its first gold medal on international waters at the 1989 Asian Championships in China. He won 2 silver medals at the Enterprise World Championships in Zimbabwe and South Africa in 1993 and 1995 respectively.

Shakeel’s passion for sailing is reflected in the time he has invested in coaching children. He has the distinction of successfully coaching the maximum number of children in India, imparting not just the skills required for competitive sailing, but instilling in them the joy of being on the water.

Zia Hajeebhoy, director of Aquasail is an Economics graduate with a Masters in Management Studies. Her experience spans sectors like FMCG, retail, financial services and agriculture. She has been associated with corporate India for 20 years, having worked with Unilever, Reckitt and Coleman, Polaroid, IL&FS and Monsanto in marketing, business strategy and sales. Zia has worked with over 20 brands and businesses including Harpic, Bollgard, Roundup, Lipton Tea and Investsmart. She is an expert in building retail businesses, in brand and business strategy and organization transformation. She also has considerable experience working in Brokering advisory, mutual funds & insurance sectors helping businesses transform from institutional to retail businesses.

All the Aquasail instructors are experienced sailors. Many of our staff have won national and international titles in the world of sailing. Having such an experienced team means that they always know when to intervene and when to let you learn independently. Our staff are passionate about introducing more people to the world of sailing.

Aquasail Sailience locations

Gateway of India
Aquasail owns four Beneteau 7.5 25 foot keelboats (Large open boats) which we keep on the water by Gateway of India. These boats can accommodate a team of up to 24, with 6 on each boat.

Racing these boats is a great way to increase teamwork, goal orientation and strategic thinking.
The location for our on land brief and debrief can be chosen according to your needs. Aquasail has access to the members only Royal Bombay Yacht Club which we often use for debriefs because of its nautical atmosphere.

Whatever additional requirements you have regarding hospitality, gifts or the venue the Aquasail team is happy to take care of all necessary arrangements.

The Gateway of India location is ideal for a half day program.

Aquasail Club Mandwa, Alibaug
Aquasail has a beautiful, rustic beach centre situated in Mandwa, Alibaug. On the beach we have a range of world class beach dinghies, Laser Funboats, Laser Pico’s, Hobie Bravo’s and a Hobie 15. We also have 6 Hobie Kayaks and 6 Starboard Start windsurf boards with Neilpryde sails. In addition we bring our four Beneteau 7.5 25 foot keelboats across the Harbour when we have a programme.
We have enough equipment to run a program for up to 70 people. Depending on the size of the team and their specific needs we will vary the equipment that we use and customise the activities to fit the HR objective.

We organise all transport, food and any other hospitality requirements you may have.

The Mandwa location is ideal for a full day program.
